About

Why this library exists, and who is behind it.

transitional.life is the work of a single writer in Amsterdam. The project began with a noticing: that the passages a life actually moves through, the in-between places, are poorly served by self-help and over-clinicalized by therapy culture. Most of them deserve a different register, somewhere between literature and field notes.

Each Companion is a short literary text for a specific transition. The writing is empathetic but unsentimental, observational rather than prescriptive, and informed by years of reading, listening, and sitting beside people in their own thresholds.

The library is free. There are no cookies, no third-party tracking, and no accounts to create. Readers who want to support the work can pay what they can, and practitioners can purchase a perpetual license to share the full library with their clients.
